Q  What led you to teaching?
A  I have always enjoyed teaching someone to do something new, increasing their knowledge. I love seeing connections being made and the "lights coming on".

Q  Did you have any key mentors or people who influenced your decision to work in education?
A  My dad was a wonderful example of an educator. He shared knowledge and thought life skills to thousands of young people. Between him, my mom, and my grandparents I learned a little bit about a lot of things, a lot about some things, and a wide variety of skills.

Q  What are you most excited or passionate about?
A  Reading and passing that joy to others.

Q  What do you find most challenging about your job?
A  Trying to meet the individual needs of each student.

Q  What's the best thing to happen since you started working at CPS?
A  The East Side Reading Night - I love putting books in the hands of children and watching them share reading experiences with their parents.

Q  What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
A  I wanted to be a veterinarian but decided to marry one instead.

Q  What are three things every teacher should own?
A  A sense of humor, a restockable candy jar for chocolate, and a set of screwdrivers.

Becky and her husband Gary have been married for 47 years. They have 3 sons, Caleb, Jacob, and Nathan who are now married so they also have 3 lovely daughters and 7 fantastic grandkids.
