Dear Class of 2020 Students and Parents,

Congratulations on making it all the way through to your senior year! The exciting time is finally here and we are all so proud of you here at CHS. This time in your life has also come with such unforeseen disappointment caused by situations out of everyone’s control. Due to the big shift in our lives, things must be different for the class of 2020. We know that you and your family, more than anybody, understand that things have to be different this year and graduation is one of those things on your check list that is being edited. 

Our administration and senior sponsors have been diligently working on alternative ideas, for the time being, to honor and celebrate your great achievements. We are working in a way that will confirm our continued safety while also allowing a sense of unity during this separated time. 

There will be several things happening throughout the day Friday, May 15, 2020 to recognize you! There will be several photo opportunities, a parade, a drive through diploma presentation, and a movie. Please look over the following graduation information carefully so you can participate in EVERY event.

1. Photo opportunities: 

   1. 12:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. - Individual picture opportunities. Freeman Field House Sidewalk 

      1. Flora Photography - Professional pictures

      2. Individuals time slots (Please follow the schedule)

      3. Head and shoulders picture in cap and gown

   2. 12:00 P.M. - 4:00P.M. - PAC has CHS Lions signing day backdrop set up 

      1. Families may photograph following social distancing guidelines

      2. No more than 5 family members with each senior

2. Car Parade of Seniors down main street

   1. 6:00 P.M. cars line up at football field

   2. 6:30 P.M. parade starts

      1. Police escorts

      2. Route starts at Telford Field, goes by the park, up past Memorial, turn south on to Main Street, then turn west at 12th Street (at the old Chevrolet dealership) to avoid light on Hwy 18 and make loop back to the football field down Joe Long Drive, go up Park Road, turn south at high school entrance and line up to drive in front of Freeman Field House for diploma presentations.

3. Diploma drive-through presentations to cars

   1. 7:00 P.M. Freeman Field House has a stage set up - 2020 Banner - lattice

   2. Seniors one-by-one  step out car to pick-up diploma from table on stage and take picture

   3. Administration, School Board Members, Faculty be will be socially distanced to wave congratulations

4. Graduation Movie Premier 9:00P.M.

   1. Seniors at home with families

   2. mail dropbox for all senior submissions

      1. Submissions accepted until May 1st

      2. graduation2020@chandlerlions.org 

5. June 19th

   1. Possible date to walk across stage at Telford Field.

   2. Pending CDC guidelines

   3. Presentations of diplomas 

   4. Public seating available in bleachers only

   5. Additional details to follow pending Federal and State guidelines

The movie will premiere on graduation night. We need you to participate with us, so that each and every individual can be recognized. 

Part of the movie will contain three pictures of each student. We need you to send two of them to us. 

1. ONE picture of you in a sport uniform, activity, extra curricular event or involved in a school function or school day (preferably from senior year). 

2. A 5-7 second video of you standing in your cap and gown. Ideas for movement in the short video might include a wave, a thumbs up, a “hands in the air” yay, or something of that nature. It needs to be in real time, no slo-mo or sped up filter. Also, make sure we can clearly see your smiling face. There will not be sound to your video so don’t worry about saying anything (there will be music playing as your pictures/video is displayed). Consider your background as well - less clutter and distraction in the background would be ideal. Try to find an area that is solid/neutral colors or not “busy colors” without a lot of movement around you, so we can focus on YOU! :)

How to send pictures/videos: Upload your picture AND video to your school google drive account and share to this email: graduation2020@chandlerlions.org.It’s really important for a quality production that you share through your google drive instead of sending a regular email. Also, the files may be too big to share through email. For the best results, sharing through your drive will work the most efficiently. These need to be submitted as quickly as possible, the sooner, the better. Absolutely no later than May 1, 2020.
