About Mrs. Hall

Melissa Hall, Junior High Counselor

I am Melissa Hall, and I am proud to serve Chandler Junior High School students and their families. I graduated in 2001 from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I have been an educator for more than twenty years, teaching at the elementary level for nineteen years and at the high school and junior high levels for three years. I received my Master's of  Education in School Counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in May 2025.

I look forward to serving our students and families to achieve a knowledge of self and others, building relationships that foster personal growth. Together, we will set goals and standards for academic achievement, social/emotional development, and college and career readiness. My hope is that all students feel valued and understood as individuals while working toward academic, social/emotional, and postsecondary goals.

Message from the Counselor

As a school counselor, my goal for the year is to assist in the development and success of all the students at Chandler. This is achieved through the many services provided by our school counseling program, including:

  • Classroom guidance lessons
  • Individual and small group counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Community partnerships
  • Collaboration with administration, teachers, and parents.
  • Referrals for additional services

To see the school counselor, a student just needs to ask, and I will see them at my earliest convenience at a time that also works well with their school schedule.  Students may also be referred to me by other school staff, or you may reach out if you think seeing the school counselor would benefit your student. As a school counselor, I am ethically obligated to confidentiality, except in certain circumstances. These include:

  • Thoughts of self-harm or harming others
  • Suspected child abuse or neglect
  • The student gives me permission to share

Topics covered by the school counseling program are wide and suited to the needs of the school and students, both as a whole and individually. All counseling and guidance lessons are done in an age-appropriate manner that will help them develop life skills as they grow throughout the year. Topics include:

  • Bullying and conflict resolution
  • Friendship and social skills
  • Personal safety (internet use, drug and alcohol prevention, etc.)
  • Study and organizational skills
  • Identifying and regulating emotions
