Sheila Schofield

Sheila Schofield is a 4th grade teacher at Park Road Elementary. This is her 20th year of teaching, and she’s spent them all at Chandler Public Schools.  Sheila says all teachers need sharpies, a stapler and hot glue gun.  She lived in Oklahoma City until she was eight and then moved to Wellston, where she has lived for the past 35 years. She attended OBU in Shawnee.

Q  What led you to teaching?
A  I have always loved being around kids.  Being able to help them and teach them news things is very exciting!

Q  Did you have anyone who influenced your decision to become an educator?
A  I have two wonderful ladies who have had a big impact on my life.  Mrs. Humphrey, my 4th grade teacher and Mrs. Perdue my high school Home Economic teacher.  They both made teaching look fun and exciting!

Q  What would you say most motivates you to teach?
A  The thing that motivates me is knowing that all my hard work will eventually pay off.  I love it when students come back and tell me about something I have taught them and how it has helped them out.

Q  What are you most excited or passionate about?
A  I am very passionate about my students.  I love each and every one of them very much and want them to know they are loved and cared about.

Q  What do you find most challenging about being a teacher?
A  The most challenging part, I feel, is trying to get everything done that I want to get done.  Some days there just doesn’t seem like there are enough hours in the day.

Q  What's the best thing to happen since you started teaching?
A  The best thing is when all of my students come back to see me.  I love hearing what is happening in their lives and how they are succeeding in their life.

Q  What might students and parents be surprised to know about you?
A  I am the only teacher at Park Road who has taught all grade levels 3rd-6th in the building.

Q  What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
A  Race car driving!

Sheila has three children who keep her on the go, but she loves every minute of it!  Her daughter MaKayla is a junior at CHS where she is the football manager and helps work gate at most of the sports events.  Her son son Jackson is a 4th grader at Park Road and is very active in soccer, baseball and basketball.  Her youngest son Hayden is in 1st grade at East Side, and is also involved in soccer and baseball.

Her family loves going to the zoo, movies and all the different sporting events.  They attend church at Wellston First Baptist.
