Chandler Public Schools

Ashley Weaver is a Kindergarten teacher at East Side Elementary.  This is her seventh year teaching and first year at Chandler Public Schools. An alumna of Chandler, Ashley attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.  

Q   Did you have any key mentors or people who influenced you and your decision to become an educator?  
A   I'm working across the hall from one of them!  Mrs. Boyd was my second grade teacher.  Chandler is full of amazing teachers that were incredibly influential in my life.  Mrs. Telford, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Milburn are a few others.

Q   What would you say most motivates you to teach?  
A   Knowing that God has given me a special skill set and life experiences that have prepared me for this calling.

Q   What are you most excited or passionate about?
A   I am super passionate about finding ways to teach every child. I have a heart for those struggling students and finding ways to reach them.  I believe every child can learn but sometimes we just have to think outside the box and do things we've never done before. 

Q   What do you find most challenging about being a teacher?
A   The budget crisis that education faces in our state is a huge challenge. It affects almost every aspect of my job from class size to what technology is available to whether or not we have someone to help clean our rooms at the end of the day. 

Q   What's the best thing to happen since you started teaching?
A   I think the relationships I've formed with families in the community is the best part.

Q   What might students and parents be surprised to know about you?
A   I love to dance!! We will definitely be busting some moves in Kindergarten!

Q   What are three things every teacher should own?
A   Tylenol, a good planner, and a Bible

Ashley is married to Chad, a firefighter in Edmond.  They have four children: Peyton, Emmerson, Kameron, and Cooper.  Ashley says they love going to Kansas City to watch the Royals play, and like to explore new cities and states together.
